What's Happening

MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDY

Wednesdays, 11:00 a.m. & 6:00 p.m., Social Hall

"I believe." These two words are among the most meaningful words any person can utter. The Apostles' Creed has shaped and guided Christian faith for almost two thousand years. But do we know what is really means–and how it applies to us today? In this study, Pastor David will walk line-by-line through each section of the Creed, revealing its rich truths. The Apostles' Creed is an often-overlooked treasure that contains the power to shape us for vibrant and steadfast living, equipping believers to live faithfully in today's culture. For more information, please contact Jan Kennamer Hart at (205) 871-7324 or jkennamerhart@dawsonchurch.org.

September Memory Verse

Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died–more than that, who was raised–who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
Romans 8:33–34

MARILYN LLOYD CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Marilyn Lloyd, Finance Director, joined Dawson's staff on September 9, 2002. She and her husband, Steve, have been members at Dawson since 1993 and are very active in the life of our church. It would be appropriate to highlight Marilyn's many responsibilities such a preparing financial statements, recording member contributions, processing payroll, and managing employee benefits; however, it is her work ethic that humbly commands respect from our staff and church family. She is diligent and committed to excellence, always going above and beyond in every aspect of her job with a positive attitude and a welcoming smile. Those that know Marilyn know that she will sacrificially stop whatever she is working on to greet you with a smile and help answer your question. Her character, which so wonderfully models the fruit of the Spirit, is reflected daily in her heart's desire to honor our Savior and Lord with every word and thought and deed. Marilyn and Steve have three sons, Adam, Russell, and Michael, one daughter-in-law, and one precious new granddaughter who is just 4 weeks old! Marilyn exemplifies the model of a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. She is a valuable member of our staff, and Dawson is truly blessed to have her!

DAWSON WELCOMES NEW ASSOCIATE MINISTER OF MISSIONS

By recommendation of the Personnel Team, Dawson is excited to announce that Kyle Bailey has been called to serve as our Associate Minister of Missions, effective September 12, 2022. Kyle is married to Ali, and they have two children, Thomas (17), and Claire (15). The Baileys have been active members at Dawson since 2013. Kyle has a Master of Divinity from Beeson and extensive experience leading mission teams, including several Dawson mission trips that he's led in the last few years. Most recently, Kyle has worked with international students at Samford and UAB. Kyle has skills in developing systems, leading teams, and mobilizing people to serve in missions.

In his role at Dawson, Kyle will serve alongside Ben Hale in all areas of missions and will specifically focus on our existing mission projects and establishing new partnerships. A large part of Kyle's role will be to mobilize Dawson members to serve in missions locally and around the world. We are excited to have Kyle join our team and look forward to seeing God use him to help our Missions Ministry. Please join us in praying for Kyle, Ali, Thomas, and Claire as they make this transition to join the staff at Dawson.
