What's Happening

CANDLELIGHT AT DAWSON

For more than 40 years, people have come to Dawson for the beautiful experience of worship led by the Sanctuary Choir & Orchestra and Combined Student Choirs. You will hear about the joy that God gave us with the birth of His son, Jesus, through Candlelight at Dawson. Culminating with the candlelit singing of Silent Night, this evening of worship is anticipated each year by our community, making it a perfect time to invite a teacher, neighbor, or friend. Doors open 45 minutes prior to the service. There are three worship opportunities:

Friday, December 20 at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, December 21 at 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, December 22 at 5:00 p.m.

Options for end of year giving

During 2024, the generous giving of the Dawson Family of Faith has fulfilled our mission statement— To Become and Help Others Become Faithful Servants of Jesus Christ—in many ways and has allowed the ministries of Dawson to impact lives with the Gospel. December 31 is the last day the IRS permits contributions to be given to Dawson for the 2024 tax year. Gifts must be received by the church or postmarked no later than midnight, December 31, 2024.

For your convenience, the Church Office will be open on Tuesday, December 31, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you are unable to get your contribution to the church by 6:00 p.m. on December 31, or have it postmarked by midnight, please call 205-871-7324 and we will assist you in any way that we can. Thank you for your faithfulness in giving to God’s ministries through Dawson in 2024 and your financial commitments for 2025.

Combined Adult Life Groups On January 12

On January 12, 2025, we will kick off the building campaign to ask each Dawson member to give over and above their normal giving to help pay for the cost of the renovation. As part of the kickoff on January 12, adult Life Groups will combine into larger groups during their normal meeting times. There will be food, information about the renovation project and the campaign, a video from Pastor David, and a special Bible study lesson. All adult Life Groups will receive information on their meeting location for that day. As we embark upon this important project, please join us for this special occasion in the life of our church, and learn how we can all be found Faithful Together.

MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDY Beginning Wednesday, January 8, 11:00 a.m., & 6:00 p.m.

Please join us as we examine some questions every Christian should ask (and answer). Pastor David and other staff members will help us discover how Scripture answers these critical questions. Some of the topics include:

  • Were Adam and Eve real people?
  • Does the Bible justify slavery?
  • Does the Bible actually condemn same-sex relationships?
  • How do we reconcile the love of God with an eternal Hell?
  • Don’t all religions basically teach the same thing?
