Sermon Title: The Widow’s Mite
Scripture: Mark 12:41–44
This week, Pastor David shared from the Gospel of Mark about what Jesus saw in the gift of the widow. He emphasized these two points:
1. The Heart Of Her Gift
2. What Is The Heart Of My Giving?
Going Deeper:
- The widow gave her all in an act of trust in God. Likewise, Jesus gave his all for us. What do you hold back from him—thoughts, habits, dreams, resources, time, gifts, pursuits, goals?
- Jesus looks at the heart of the giver. Think about your motivation for giving—paying your dues, to be seen or acknowledged by others, guilt. What is your heart telling Him?
- Pastor David shared that many of our lives are on the default channel of “moderation.” In what area(s) of your life are you tempted to operate in moderation? Is moderation what Jesus calls His followers to? Explain.

Additional Discovery:
If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:3
“Talk to him about ‘moderation in all things’. If you can once get him to the point of thinking that ‘religion is all very well up to a point’, you can feel quite happy about his soul. A moderated religion is as good for us [devils] as no religion at all and more amusing.”
~ C.S. Lewis, The Screwtape Letters
Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time now and forever. Amen. ~ Jude 24–25
