Children Of God
John 1:9–13
This week, Pastor David continued the Advent sermon series, “Became.” We looked at Jesus’ gift of salvation. Specifically, we saw:
- The Tragedy Of Spiritual Rejection
- The World Rejects Jesus As Creator
- The Religious Leaders Rejected Jesus As The Messiah
- The Gift Of Salvation
- First, we receive Jesus by believing that He is God’s Son. (1 John 4:14–15)
- Second, we receive Jesus by trusting in Him alone as our Savior. (1 Timothy 2:5)
- Third, we receive Jesus by submitting to Him as Lord.
GOING DEEPER:
- Light shines from Jesus as the Creator. Pastor David shared that in the beauty, design, and order of creation, we see the brushstrokes of the Almighty. What do you see in the created order that leads you to sing songs of praise to Jesus?
- Jesus became human and came to earth as the perfect gift, the greatest gift ever given. His mission was to bring light into the darkness. How was this gift received? Explain.
- Unlike the gifts that we give and receive, the gift of Jesus is available to ALL people. How are you encouraged by the truth that nothing and no one can keep you from receiving the gift of salvation?
- Pastor David shared that we receive Jesus by 1) believing He is God’s Son, 2) trusting in Him alone as our Savior and 3) submitting to Him as Lord. Have you received this gift of salvation that Jesus has offered you? If not, what is keeping you from accepting it?
