The Upward Call Of God

Philippians 3:1–14

This week, Dr. Bill Morrison, Lead Campus Minister of UAB Baptist Campus Ministries, shared a message from Philippians 3. He spoke from Paul’s writing about how Christians are to prepare for the upward call of God.

1. Accept God’s Grace
2. Live In The Power of Christ’s Resurrection
3. Share In Christ’s Sufferings
4. Act In Humility

GOING DEEPER:

• As you begin the new year, what is your greatest spiritual need? Explain.

• Read Philippians 3:1–14. In these verses, what do you learn about the difference between salvation through the law versus salvation through Christ?

• Dr. Morrison shared that we can be so familiar with the story of Jesus that we forget how monumental His life, death and resurrection truly are. In what area(s) are you living in the confidence of what you can do on your own and not depending completely on Him?

• Are you able, like Paul, to say, “But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ”? If so, thank God for His grace and the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. If not, are you ready to begin the new year as a follower of Christ?
