Sermon Title: The Surprising Providence of God

Scripture: Exodus 2:1–10

This week, Pastor David continued the sermon series from Exodus with a reminder that God is working for our good and His glory in the midst of our challenges and difficulties. Pastor David shared these two truths:

  • God sovereignly works in and through all that He allows.
  • God isn’t directing your life in spite of your circumstances; He is directing your life in the midst of your circumstances.

Going Deeper:         

1. Because he was from the tribe of Levi, Moses served as Israel’s first priest, the mediator between God and man. Who is our mediator today? How are you encouraged by the truth that you do not need a human mediator?

2. The word used in verse 3 for “basket” is the same word used in Genesis 6–8 meaning “ark.” Describe God’s protection of Noah and Moses and how that protection leads, ultimately, to His glory.

3. Think about a time in your life when you faced difficulty and needed God’s protection. Explain how God worked in that situation for your good.

4. While the Christian journey is not without difficult days, we can trust that God is working in every moment and every circumstance of our lives. How does this truth encourage you today?
