Acts: Witness
This week, Pastor David began a new sermon series on the book of Acts. We looked at:
- The Foundation Of Christ's Church, verses 1–3
- The Empowerment Of Christ's Church, verses 4–5
- The Mission Of Christ's Church, verses 6–8
GOING DEEPER:
- The Acts of the Apostles was written by Luke, the physician. It's a sequel to the Gospel Of Luke and it chronicles the birth and history of the early Church. How is that book also the history of our church today?
- In Acts 1:1–3, we see the foundation of Christ's Church. What do these verses point to as the central theme of the entire Bible?
- Pastor David said that the Holy Spirit is necessary for the growth, spread, and health of the Church. When are you tempted to labor without the empowerment of the Holy Spirit? What can you do to make sure you are empowered by the Holy Spirit?
- Acts 1:8 calls all followers of Jesus to be "ambassadors" or "heralds" of Jesus and His kingdom. Where is God calling you to serve as His ambassador in our city? In our state? Throughout the world? What is your response to that call?
