Sermon Title: Paving A Certain Future In Uncertain Days
Scripture: Romans 12:1–2
This week, Pastor David shared a special message from Romans about God’s will.
- How are you responding to the challenges and disappointments during this season? Where have you experienced God working during this time?
- We discover God’s will as we yield ourselves to the transformation process that He desires. What needs to be transformed in your life to make you look more like Jesus? Ask God to show you the first step to make in that transformation.
- Pastor David said that the will of God is not primarily about what decisions we will make tomorrow but about who we are becoming today. How does that statement give you courage as you begin this new week?
PRAYER PROMPTS:
1. Pray for our leaders as they make decisions and recommendations.
2. Pray for scientists and health care professionals as they work with those that are ill and as they seek ways to treat the virus.
3. Pray for the sick and vulnerable.
4. Pray for missionaries in areas of the world where the virus is widespread.
5. Pray for ways to help those in your area that are vulnerable.
ADDITIONAL DISCOVERY:
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. ~ Romans 12:1–2
- The will of God is discovered as we offer our lives to God. (verse 1)
- The will of God is discovered as we are transformed by Him. (verse 2)
Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. ~ Titus 2:6–8
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. ~ James 4:8
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ~ Isaiah 41:10
