The Lord’s Prayer: Part 3

Matthew 6:9-13

This week, Pastor David continued walking through The Lord’s Prayer, specifically God’s provision, God’s pardon and God’s protection.

Provision

Consider your everyday experiences. How are you recognizing God’s daily provision in your life? Are you living as though he is a necessary part of your life? Are you asking him to provide for you daily walking in obedience and reliance on him?

Pardon

Think about the difference between covering and absolving. Praise the Lord for his pardon in your life that not only covers your sins, but also casts them as far as the east is from the west.
Are you living as someone whose sin has been cast out and forgotten by the God of the universe, or are you living as someone who is working to earn forgiveness?

Protection

Consider the unique ways that you’re tempted in your life. What are you doing to guard against the enemy? How do you respond to temptation?
Pastor David gave three ways that we can respond to temptation: the Word of God, prayer, and community. Are you taking advantage of the escape routes that God has given you from temptation? In what ways can you be more guarded against temptation?

In your time with God this week:

Recognize the ways in which God provides for you daily and praise Him for those. Discipline yourself to ask daily for God’s provision in light of your dependence on him.

Praise God for his pardon on your life. Spend time with the reality of God’s removing your sin as far as the east is from the west.

Ask God to help you in your temptations, not only when you’re in the midst of them but also as you’re preparing for them. Think about the ways that you can respond to temptation and be ready to respond.
