The Life Of David: Loving Your Enemies
This week, Pastor David continued the sermon series on The Life Of David, looking at David's actions toward his enemies.
GOING DEEPER:
- It's not unusual for personal and/or spiritual crises to draw us closer to God. Describe a time of crisis in your own life when this has been true.
- Pastor David said that God is not an enabler. Like we see in David’s life, sometimes God’s greatest gifts to His children are the pain of disappointment and/or consequences of our actions. How does God use disappointment and pain to bring people into a closer relationship with Him?
- When Saul died, David wept for him and did not dehumanize him, even though Saul was his enemy. Why is David's reaction to Saul's death surprising? Why might we expect him to have a mixed reaction?
- Jesus is our model for forgiveness–even asking His father to forgive those who were crucifying Him. How are we to model forgiveness to others?
