The Life of David: A Portrait Of An Unlikely Friendship
This week, Pastor David continued the sermon series The Life Of David with a look at the friendship of David and Jonathan and characteristics of a faithful friend.
- A Faithful Friend Remains Loyal, 1 Samuel 18:1–3
- A Faithful Friend Loves Sacrificially, 1 Samuel 19:1–4
- A Faithful Friend Offers Encouragement, 1 Samuel 23:15–16
GOING DEEPER:
- What makes the friendship between Jonathan and David so unlikely? What is the importance of the use of “covenant” in verse 3 to describe this friendship?
- God has called us to be friends that offer encouragement. Do you concentrate on building up your friends, or do you constantly complain with them about the difficulties in life? Explain.
- Pastor David shared that God allows us the opportunity to call Him friend. God embodies loyalty to His creation; He never falters; and He never fails us. What does it mean to be a friend of God? How are you encouraged by God's loyalty, sacrifice, and encouragement toward you?
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
