Sermon Title: Whose Job Is It Anyway?

Scripture: Philippians 2:12–18

  

This week, Pastor David continued the sermon series from the book of Philippians with a look at the division of labor in our spiritual lives.

 

Going Deeper:

  • Pastor David shared that Philippians 2:12–13 are to be taken together as we consider our sanctification; we work out our salvation as God works in and through us. Paul instructed believers to “work out your salvation with fear and trembling." What comes to mind when you read those words? Explain.
  • These words do not mean we can achieve our salvation through our own efforts. Rather, as recipients of salvation through God’s grace, we have a responsibility to do the work of God as the Spirit of God works within us. What work(s) is God calling you to this week?
  • Our spiritual growth is dependent on the Spirit of God blowing in us and through us. What spiritual disciplines do you need to practice this week in order to “hoist your sails” and catch the wind of the Spirit?
  • Pastor David said that God didn’t save us so we could stay as we are and didn’t just forgive us so we could go to heaven. Instead, His desire is to transform us NOW to look more like Jesus. What attitudes/actions do you need to let go of in order to be more like Jesus (grumbling, disputing, etc.)?
