Corinth
Acts 18:1-23

This week, Pastor David taught a message from Acts that reflects on Paul's continuing journey to spread the Gospel. In the message he unpacked:

  • Do Not Fear: I Am With You (vv.9-10)
  • Do Not Fear: Look Around You (v. 10)

GOING DEEPER:

  • Pastor David shared that the most repeated command in the Bible is, “Do not fear.” You will find some version of this command over 100 times. Fear often threatens to overwhelm us, especially in our days of media overload. Are you surprised that this is the most repeated command? Why or why not?
  • Corinth was a dark place to minister, and in His kindness, God granted Paul a vision that refueled him in his despondency. Our challenges are different than Paul’s, but discouragement has no extinction date. How can God’s Word to Paul in Acts 18:9–10 encourage you to face the fears and anxieties you may experience in the week ahead?
  • Pastor David shared that we do not need to fear because God is “with” us. The “with-ness” of God is part of His essence. The Holy Spirit is God with us and in us. In what specific areas of your life do you need to hear God telling you He is with you? How can you adjust your schedule this week to make more room to hear His voice in silence, meditation, and prayer?
  • Being a part of the body of Christ helps us when afraid and discouraged. We need each other. Who has helped you in the past as you faced fears and discouragement? Who do need to reach out to this week to offer encouragement and to ask for specific prayer needs?

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24–26
