The Nominating Team is distributing information to Dawson members requesting input as they begin the process of nominating Deacons, Church Officers, and Standing Team Members for 2023. Names of people to be considered for these positions should be submitted to the Church Office by Sunday, May 1. You may also complete your forms by hand and either return them to the Church Office or drop them in the offering receptacles. Forms are available at the Church Office. NEW MINISTER TO YOUNG ADULTS

By recommendation of the Personnel Team, Dawson is excited to announce Jacob Pierce as our Minister to Young Adults, effective May 8, 2022. Jacob served as a Student Ministry intern and as a Go Love Tell Intern in Maine before serving as our Associate Minister of Recreation from 2016–2017. Most recently, Jacob served at Prestonwood Baptist Church and as Baptist Campus Ministries Director at Southern Methodist University while earning his Master of Divinity. In his new role, Jacob will coordinate all ministries related to Young Adults including Together for Life, Bible Studies, and Life Groups. Please join us in welcoming Jacob to our staff and praying for both Jacob and his wife, Caroline, as they make this transition and return to serve at Dawson.

YOU ARE NEEDED AT KIDLIFE!

KidLife, Dawson's version of VBS, will take place June 6–9. We will need hundreds of volunteers to guide preschoolers and children on a journey to learn about God and how to become more like His Son, Jesus. Volunteers are still needed in these areas:

Nursery - 3 volunteers needed
4-year-olds - 4 volunteers needed
5-year-olds - 3 volunteers needed
Kindergarten completed - 2 volunteers needed
1st Grade - 1 volunteer needed
4th Grade - 3 volunteers needed
Hearts and Hands - 7 volunteers needed

COLORADO MISSION TRIP July 9–16, Mead, Colorado

Dawson’s Recreation Ministry will be taking a team to Mead, Colorado, from July 9–16 to help support Grandview Church, a Go Love Tell partner. The church was planted in 2017 and hosts a sports camp for 4-year-olds through 5th graders. This is a massive outreach to the community. We need sports instructors, huddle coaches (Bible study), and rally/worship leaders. The cost is $750.

SPRING CLOTHES NEEDED

Kids Connection has an urgent need for boys and girls spring and summer clothing: shorts, lightweight pants, jeans, tops, t-shirts, skirts, dresses, swimsuits, etc. The greatest needs are sizes 6 to 18 child and all teen sizes. You can leave donations in the Kids Connection van parked in Dawson’s North Parking Lot.

SECRET CHURCH SIMULCAST Friday, April 29, 6:00 p.m.–Midnight

You are invited to participate in this year's Secret Church simulcast, hosted by Radical Ministries and taught by David Platt. Secret Church is a unique, one-night event streamed online around the world for intense Bible study and intentional prayer for the persecuted church. This year's study is entitled, "Who Am I?" and will look at what the Bible says about gender, sexuality, artificial intelligence, race, justice, genomics, and the metaverse. Our last gathering of Thursday Chapel for the spring features the Dawsonaires. They will be presenting a home concert which they shared on their recent ministry tour to Memphis and Tupelo. Please join us for this inspiring time of worship. Thursday Chapel will resume again in September.

SUMMER COLLEGE INFORMATION

On Thursday, April 28, our College and Student Ministry staffs will road trip to Tuscaloosa for breakfast and Auburn for lunch to reconnect with some of our students who are away at school. Tell your college students to follow us on Instagram @dawsoncollegeministry for times and restaurants!

On Sunday, May 1, our Sunday morning College Life Group will begin meeting at the 9:45 a.m. hour in the FRC Gym. This will accommodate students to worship with family and friends at either 8:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. Join us for time in fellowship and the Word!

On Wednesday, June 1, the College Ministry will start our new Summer Village. This Village (small group) will be open to all college students and will meet on Wednesday nights in June and July from 6:00-7:30 p.m. for a shared meal, fellowship, and brief Bible study led by Blake Jenkins and Kara Fincher. We will be at a different Dawson members’ home each week, so follow us on Instagram @dawsoncollegeministry for locations!

Mary Walker Anne Dean, daughter of Jordan and Beau Dean, will participate with her family in dedication this Sunday during the 8:30 a.m. worship service. Mary Walker was born on November 30, 2021. Her grandparents are Chuck and Pam Walker of Birmingham and David and Yvonne Dean of Homewood. Her great grandparents are Ginny Sherrill of Hoover and Louise Walker of Trussville.

Mary Ann Dawson, daughter of Leslie and Robert Dawson, will participate with her family in dedication this Sunday during the 9:45 a.m. worship service. Mary Ann was born on July 18, 2021. She has a brother, Bobby. Her grandparents are Teresa Knott of Birmingham, Colleen and Mike Knott of Guntersville, and Joy and Bob Dawson of Marietta, GA. Her great grandmother is Betty Hooper of Boaz.

Everleigh Kate Willcutt, daughter of Mary Kate and Hayden Willcutt, will participate with her family in dedication this Sunday during the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Everleigh was born on August 16, 2021. She has a sister, Ellis. Her grandparents are Paul and Lori Tittle of Mount Olive and Keith and Teresa Willcutt of Mount Olive.
