DAWSON MEN'S SOFTBALL TAKES HOME TITLE

Congratulations to the Dawson Men's Softball team for winning the Hoover Church League championship on August 1. The team entered the playoffs as the #3 seed with a 6-2 record in the regular season. After knocking off both St. George Church and Unconditional Glove in the first two rounds, they met a familiar challenger, the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, for the championship. Rallying back from an early 7-0 deficit, Dawson fell behind again 13-12 entering the bottom half of the 7th inning. Ben Hewitt drove in Taylor Gunnells on a walk-off single as Dawson overcame the Greek Orthodox Cathedral 14-13. Playoff MVP was awarded to Jacob Irvin who smashed 3 home runs in as many games with 11 RBI's. Skipper Kyle Whittington said of the season, "It was a tough road, but we prevailed."

If you are interested in experiencing this time of fun and fellowship through playing softball, please contact Jacob Pierce, Dawson's Minister to Young Adults. The fall season begins August 22.
