Acts: Stephen
This week, Pastor David continued the sermon series on the book of Acts with a look at the life and death of Stephen. We saw that peace in death comes when you trust in the Prince of Peace in life.
GOING DEEPER:
- Pastor David reminded us that God didn't "edit" the Bible to remove the rough edges of the people that are portrayed in the pages we read. What encouragement do you get from knowing about the true humanity of those people?
- Stephen’s message was that God’s presence is not confined to the law, to the land, to the tabernacle, or to the temple. Why was Stephen's message so offensive to his audience?
- Pastor David shared that Stephen seeing Jesus standing at the right hand of God was significant. Jesus was seated at the right hand of God to symbolize His finished work (see Mark 16:19; Hebrews 1:3; and Hebrews 12:2). But here, in the face of Stephen’s faithfulness and boldness, Jesus stands. What kind of emotions does this story bring to your heart?
- Stephen's story shows us that peace in death comes when you trust in the Prince of Peace in life. Have you trusted the Prince of Peace for your salvation? If not, what is keeping you from accepting the gift of Christ and finding true and lasting peace?
